Shredpool ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and services (the "Service").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, profile photo
- Vehicle Information (Drivers): Make, model, year, license plate, seating capacity
- Payment Information: Credit/debit card details (stored securely by Stripe), bank account info (drivers only, for payouts)
- Trip Details: Origin, destination, departure time, passenger count, pickup locations
- Communications: Messages sent through the app, support requests
- Ratings and Reviews: Feedback you provide about other users
- Community Content: Posts, photos, conditions reports, comments, and other content you share in the community feed
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Location Data: GPS coordinates for pickup/dropoff points, route optimization (only when app is in use)
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, mobile network information
- Usage Data: App features used, pages viewed, time spent, crash reports
- Log Data: IP address, browser type, access times, referring pages
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Service: Facilitate ride coordination, process payments, enable messaging, display community content
- Community Features: Display your posts, photos, and conditions reports to other users, enable interactions like comments and upvotes
- Safety and Security: Verify identities, prevent fraud, investigate disputes, moderate community content

Other Users:
When you book or offer a ride, we share your name, profile photo, and contact info with other trip participants. Drivers see passenger pickup locations. After trip completion, addresses are hidden for privacy.
Service Providers:
- Stripe: Payment processing, payout distribution
- RevenueCat: Subscription management
- Mapbox: Mapping and route optimization
- Cloud Hosting: Data storage and infrastructure
- Analytics: Usage tracking and crash reporting
Legal Requirements:
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect our rights, users' safety, or prevent fraud.
Business Transfers:
If Shredpool is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred to the new entity.
We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties.
5. User-Generated Content and Community Features
5.1 Public Content
When you share content in the community feed (posts, photos, conditions reports, comments), this information is visible to other Shredpool users. Community content includes:
- Your name and profile photo
- Text content and captions you post
- Photos and images you upload
- Mountain conditions and weather reports you share
- Comments and interactions on other posts
- Upvotes and reactions to content
5.2 Photo and Camera Access
To share photos in the community feed, we request permission to access your device camera and photo library. We only access photos when you explicitly select them to share. Photos you upload are stored on our servers and displayed to other users in the community feed.
5.3 Content Moderation
We reserve the right to review, moderate, and remove community content that violates our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. Users can report inappropriate content through the app. We may take action including content removal or account suspension for violations.
5.4 Content Ownership and License
You retain ownership of content you post. By sharing content on Shredpool, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute your content within the Service. You can delete your content at any time through the app.
5.5 Content Deletion
When you delete community content, it is removed from public view immediately. However, copies may persist in backups for up to 90 days. Content may also remain visible to users who previously accessed it while it was public.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations:
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account, then deleted within 30 days
- Community Content: Posts and photos deleted within 90 days after removal, but may remain in backups
- Trip Records: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance
- Payment Data: Stored by Stripe according to their retention policies
- Support Tickets: Retained for 2 years for quality assurance
7. Your Privacy Rights
You Have the Right To:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
- Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails
- Data Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw Consent: Revoke consent for data processing (where applicable)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, sold, or disclosed, and the right to opt-out of sales (note: we do NOT sell personal information).
8. Location Data
We collect location data to:
- Show available trips near you
- Optimize pickup routes for drivers
- Calculate accurate trip distances and costs
- Provide navigation assistance
Control: You can disable location access in device settings, but this will limit app functionality. We do NOT track your location when the app is not in use (no background tracking).
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant via Stripe)
- Access controls and authentication
- Regular security audits and monitoring
However, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@shredpool.com.
11. International Users
Shredpool is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. where data protection laws may differ from your jurisdiction.
